"Türkiye will play an important role in the ceasefire"
Fidan spoke at a joint press conference following his meeting with Georgian Foreign Minister Maka Botchorishvili at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Stating that the biggest obstacle to peace and stability in the region is Israel's regional aggression and the events in Palestine, Fidan said, "(Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin) Netanyahu's recent statements regarding Syria clearly show that Israel is not in favor of peace. Israel must put an end to its regional expansionism, which it continues under the guise of establishing security."
Fidan emphasized that they should aim for peace and justice in all global wars and crises, and underlined that trying to resolve some conflicts while turning a blind eye to other wars is against both the law and human values.
Minister Fidan emphasized that, in this context, a clear stance must be taken against Israel's actions aimed at destabilizing the region.
Pointing out that they are closely following the developments in Syria, Fidan wished that the National Dialogue Conference, which was concluded yesterday, would be beneficial to Syria and the Syrian people.
"The transition process in Syria must be inclusive and not allow for separatism"Foreign Minister Fidan, drawing attention to the fact that Turkey has always defended that the future of Syria should be determined by the Syrian people, said, "We see the organization of the National Dialogue Conference as an important part of the effort to protect the future of the Syrian people. We believe that the conference will contribute to the continuation of the transition process in Syria in an inclusive manner, the establishment of state institutions with a sense of unity and solidarity, and the common prosperous future of the Syrian people. We expect the next steps of the political transition process to be inclusive and to be implemented in a way that does not allow for separatist movements."
Responding to questions from members of the press regarding the talks on ending the Russia-Ukraine War, Fidan stated that the stance of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Turkey since the beginning of the war has been to end this destructive war as soon as possible.
Fidan said that there have been initiatives, studies and contacts on this issue at both strategic and tactical levels, but that no progress has been made between the parties to date, and that as of today, a new dynamic has begun with the new US administration.
Pointing out that there is currently indirect talks between the relevant parties, Fidan stated that all actors are talking to each other.
Hakan Fidan reported that there is an intensive contact traffic on the conditions of a possible ceasefire agreement and how its continuity will be possible, whether this ceasefire agreement can turn into a peace agreement, what the conditions might be if it does, and what the security guarantees will be to ensure its continuity when the war is stopped with a ceasefire.
"Türkiye will play important roles in ending the Russia-Ukraine War"Regarding Turkey's role in this matter, Minister Fidan said, "Turkey is a strong and important country in the region. It will definitely play important roles in the implementation of peace, its continuity, and the preservation of the ceasefire. Turkey has great potential in this regard."
